WATCH FABIANA'S STORY TOLD BY JASON SILVA (ABOVE)
Fabiana Fuentes, a young Venezuelan woman, with 23 years old, had a normal life. She studied and graduated with honors a bachelor's in Audiovisual Social Communications, at the same time she was going to school for Literature. But, on November 26th, 2014, her life drastically changed. Fabiana experienced a brain hemorrhage. The doctors began running tests trying to determine the cause of the hemorrhage, there were some different opinion about it until in March of 2015, Fabiana was in Caracas when her head started hurting. She was immediately hospitalized, in that moment Doctors confirm that she had a Brian Tumor in the right temporal lobe of her brain, and they needed to operate as soon as possible.
A month later, Fabiana had surgery to remove the tumor. The removal was successful, but she was left with Hemiplegia on her right side, mixed aphasia, and impaired vision in her left eye. In this moment she has Hemiparesis is weakness of the entire left or right side of the body, and at most severe cases, complete paralysis of half of the body. These conditions have left the right side of her body weakened and difficult to move, and difficulty with language, speech, and memory.
Fabiana is right handed, and while doctors gave her little to no hope of recovery and ever walking again; stating that it would be “a miracle for her to walk” . Fabiana’s will power, determination and spirit came a long way. She has seen many doctors in her city and neighboring cities, but the response has been the same. They give her medicine and physical therapy exercises to do to help her improve. They can’t tell her when or if she’ll regain control of her whole body or if her brain will fully recover. But Fabiana’s clock is ticking. Once a person has had Hemiparesis for two years, progress becomes even more slow and difficult.
Not sure what else to do, Fabiana reached out to another source. She had been watching the show “Brain Games” and fell in love with it. It helped her with her memory and cognition, and the host always managed to cheer her up. She emailed Jason Silva and sent him a short video to tell him her story and ask for help. She thought if anyone could come up a treatment program, it would be him. Jason and her friend connected her and have been trying to figure out how they could help this amazing young woman.
Fabiana wants to try to see doctors abroad and to try new treatments and options to improve her condition. She’s tried all she can in Venezuela, but she knows that there's more out there. She is willing to do whatever it takes to improve, and to show others that recovery is possible. But, money for treatments and supporting herself while involved in clinical trials is holding her back. In order for her to continue improving and to be an example to others, Fabiana needs your help .

Fabiana Fuentes es una joven venezolana de 23 años de edad, que tenía una vida normal. Fabiana se graduó con honores como Licenciada en Comunicación Social mención Audiovisual y estudiaba Letras Hispánicas en la Universidad del Zulia. Pero, el 26 de noviembre de 2014, su vida cambió. Fabiana sufrió un Accidente Cerebrovascular (ACV Hemorrágico), afortunadamente sobrevivió al incidente. Inmediatamente los médicos especialistas comenzaron estudios para investigar la causa del ACV que sufrió, surgieron varias opiniones al respecto, hasta que en marzo 2015, Fabiana quien estaba en Caracas, le comenzó un dolor muy fuerte en la cabeza, la hospitalizaron y fue entonces cuando confirmaron que tenía un Tumor Cerebral ubicado en el lóbulo temporal izquierdo, que debían operar lo más pronto posible.
En abril de 2015 a Fabiana la operaron para extraer el tumor. La operación fue un éxito, pero Fabiana salió con Hemiplejia Derecha, parálisis facial, problemas de visión lado derecho y afasia mixta. Actualmente presenta una condición que se llama Hemiparesia, esto significa que el lado derecho de su cuerpo es más débil, en el caso más severo no se tiene movilidad, ella tiene debilidad muscular y espasticidad lo que ocasiona moverse con dificultad, problemas de comprensión y lenguaje, y alteración en la memoria.
Fabiana ha consultado muchos médicos tanto en su ciudad como en las ciudades vecinas, pero el pronóstico es siempre el mismo. Le hacen control, le recetan medicinas, le sugieren diferentes tipos de terapia y ejercicios para mejorarse, pero no pueden predecir cuándo se recuperará o si recuperará un poco más.
Fabiana es diestra, todo lo hacía con su mano derecha, ella ha luchado y ha mejorado mucho más de lo que los médicos predijeron, pues no le daban ninguna esperanza de volver a caminar, ni de recuperarse del todo, sin embargo, ella no se ha rendido nunca y con mucha fuerza y voluntad continúo sus terapias de rehabilitación diaria. Pero a ella le está corriendo el tiempo, tiene 14 meses de operada y según estudios, la mejor recuperación se consigue en los primeros 24 meses, ya cuando se cumplen dos años de sufrir hemiparesia tu cuerpo queda “obsoleto”, es decir que la recuperación es más difícil y lenta.
Sin otras opciones, Fabiana probó algo diferente. Ella le fascina el programa "Juegos Mentales". Según Fabiana los juegos del programa han ayudado a mejorar su memoria, su habilidad de comunicación, lenguaje y comprensión, y el presentador Jason Silva siempre levanto su ánimo. Fabiana decidió enviar un correo y un video para contarnos su historia y pedir ayuda. Siempre tuvo Fé que si había alguien en el mundo que podía ayudarla y comprender su caso, sería Jason.
Fabiana tiene esperanza de seguir avanzando y quiere ver otros médicos fuera de Venezuela, con otros métodos y opciones para mejorar su condición. Ella ha probado todo en Venezuela, pero sabe que hay otras opciones alrededor del mundo y muchas son en Estados Unidos. Ella está dispuesta a probar opciones nuevas y ser un ejemplo para otros, demostrando que la recuperación y mejoría de esta condición si es posible con mucha constancia, fuerza y voluntad.
